Bright Side by Kim Holden

Bright Side (Bright Side, #1)

five stars

Secrets.

Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.

And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.

This needs to be a movie, like right now!

Wow. I’m stunned, shocked, happy, and shredded. This was one of the best books I’ve read in a really long time, even through the tears, I loved it. Kate is the person we should all strive to become, the friend who always has your back, who loves and cares fiercely for her inner circle of family and friends, and I loved how fearless she was, right up to the end. This was recommended to me by a dear friend of mine, and I didn’t have the money to buy it at the time. She sent me a gift card to get it. I need to do something epic in return, because this story will stay with me forever. It needs to be made into a movie. Like, yesterday. Please find someone to write the screenplay, because this would make an awesome film.
